Symptoms
- Colon cancer is known as "the silent killer" – often
symptoms do not appear until after the cancer is advanced.
- Symptoms that do appear are often misdiagnosed. This
is why early detection is so important.
- Common symptoms to watch for (which may or may not
indicate a problem) include:
- Frequent, but not necessarily constant, blood in
the stool
- Bleeding from the rectum
- Unusual fatigue
- Unexplained weight loss
- A change in bowel habits
- Stools narrower than usual
- Anemia
- Diarrhea, constipation, or a combination of both
- Bloating, fullness, or general stomach discomfort
- Frequent gas pains
- Vomiting
